The High Elves (Altmer)
In the Imperial-now universal-speech, the haughty, tall, golden-skinned people of Summerset Isle, or "Alinor" now, are called "High-Elves," but they are truly called "Altmer," or the "Cultured People."
This is justified with their language being the base of the Tamrielic language and many other subjects, like art, crafts, and science.
The Altmer are also well-known for their incredible gift of the arcane arts and they boast their sublime physical natures make them far more resistant to disease than the so-called "Lesser Races."
Everyone knows the High Elves, especially now with the Aldermi Dominion risen, as a elitist people, seeing themselves as the superior race amongst lessers.
But not all Altmer see themselves as such and hold some embarrassment for their people's hubris.
